I am directed to inform you that Mr.During who .8 secondea for service with the Indian Army Reserve of Officers 1917, has been permitted to proceed to the United Kingdom on months' leave, direct from India.

The date on which he will leave India is as yet known, and I am therefore unable to furnish the usual certificate : present, but I shall communicate with you when I can ascertain he date of his last payment.in Inula.

I enclose a statement of the leave to which Mr. urlingham is entitlea, assuming that he leaves India on the 5th rch, from which you will see that he is entitled to 3 months' acation, (i.e., Full Pay), leave, and he has 14 months and 9 days if pay leave to his credit. Any portion of this latter may be

muted into full pay leave, at the rate of 2 months' half pay - month's full pay, and I shall be glad to hear what are ir. rlingham's wishes in this respect. In any events, his total sence from duty, between the day on which he leaves India and

10 months the day on which he returns to Hong Kong, must not exceed

all.

The salary of Mr.Burlingnan'e substantive appointment 2400 to £560 by #20 annually, less 4 Widows and Orphans' ensions. He is at present on 2480 per annum and will be entitled to his next (and fifth) increment of 20 on April 7th 1919.
